The lab aims at updating participants on approaches, methods and techniques for teaching Italian in secondary schools (lower and upper level, class A012), against the background of the guidelines and recommendations at national and local level (BZ), and by taking into consideration the fundamental mechanisms of classroom interaction and the role played by spoken communication on the one hand, and the current multilingual and digital characterization of school settings on the other.

Course Topics
- Fundamental mechanisms of classroom communication, between plenary lessond and peer interaction - The development of oral and written receptive and productive skills: from analogic to digital tools - The promotion of multilingualism in the classroom - Resources for continuous autonomous training and for research-action.

Teaching format
Lab teaching and learning modality, with exercises and individual/group assignments, introduced by brief theoretical-applicative overviews.

Educational objectives
The lab is part of the training activities characterizing class A012 –Literary disciplines in upper secondary schools. Its goal is to ensure participants have a good command of methods and techniques that can promote students’ development of linguistic and communicative skills in Italian. Disciplinary skills Knowledge and understanding At the end of the lab, students will have a solid knowledge of methods and techniques used for teaching Italian as a subject-matter, taking into account receptive and productive skills for spoken and written language, and while considering specificities of school teaching contexts. Ability to apply knowledge and understanding At the end of the lab, students will be able to apply a number of methods and tecniques for enhancing secondary school students’ development of linguistic and communicative skills. Transversal skills Independent jugdment At the end of the lab students will have acquired critical and interpretative skills that will enable them to evaluate and choose the most appropriate approaches, methods and tecniques for different school contexts, in order to enhance secondary school students’ development of linguistic and communicative skills. Communication skills At the end of the lab, students will have acquired specific communication skills, in particular formal and terminological accuracy in the fields of linguistics and the teaching of Italian, with regard to the theoretical and applicative contents of the lab.

Additional educational objectives and learning outcomes
Learning skills At the end of the lab, students will have acquired specific knowledge and reflection abilities that will enable them to autonomously deepen and update their knowledge of approaches, methods and techniques for teaching Italian, in relation to skills and school contexts.

Assessment
Written test, with closed and open questions.

Evaluation criteria
For the written test, the following aspects are considered and evaluated: critical analysis and reflection on subject-specific contents, relevance of the analysis, clarity of argumentation.
