Educational objectives
The module teaches: - Knowledge of the literary tradition and knowledge of children's literature in the Ladin school languages; - Knowledge of the similarities and differences between the language and culture of the Ladin communities in the Alpine region; - Familiarity with reading as part of a person's lifelong education; - Expertise in interpreting literary texts, including those with a high intellectual and emotional content; - Knowledge of the tools that make it possible to recognise the formal and aesthetic values of texts; - Ability to promote cultural exchange when working with literature and children's literature; - Ability to select texts and books for children and young people; - Ability to deal with texts in various forms of paraphrase and commentary at different levels of language proficiency; - Ability to combine reading with writing and to deal creatively with what has been read; - Ability to familiarise children in kindergarten with forms of written culture; - Knowledge of forms of communication in the media; - Ability to compare literary products from the different Ladin areas in the Alpine region. The module has a strong comparative orientation due to the special form of the Ladin school system. Expected learning outcomes and competences: Knowledge and understanding of the school-relevant contents of the literatures of the Ladin school languages as well as the most important historical developments in children's literature. Applying knowledge and understanding by recognising and deepening connections between the three literatures, familiarising (kindergarten) children with the first forms of literature and motivating primary school pupils to read. Independent judgement expressed through the ability to reflect on, discuss and deepen the content covered (e.g. recognising and differentiating the use of pedagogically valuable children's literature) and through the use of appropriate and academically rigorous language in oral and written statements. Communication skills expressed by the ability to present acquired knowledge in an efficient and argumentative manner, both orally and in writing, and by the ability to justify decisions for the use of selected texts in an argumentative manner. Learning strategies expressed by the ability to use the acquired knowledge to autonomously deepen, expand and update the topics covered.

Assessment
Competences are assessed both during the course by means of work assignments and written interim tests (in the form of open and/or closed questions) and at the end of the course by means of a final written examination. The examination takes into account the quality of the work assignments completed, the intermediate tests and the participation during the course.

Evaluation criteria
The course provides for the assignment of a single final assessment, which may be made up of the results of several partial examinations. Specifically, the quality of the work assignments (in terms of content and form), the originality and creativity of the work, the practical relevance, the ability to reflect and transfer what has been learnt to new subjects and the linguistic expression are assessed; in the intermediate written tests, the correctness of the content, the clarity of the argumentation, the pertinence of the answers, the appropriateness of the language and their formal correctness are assessed. In the event of a negative assessment of the overall module, any positively assessed parts of the module will be credited the next time you take the module examination. Please note, however, that a negative assessment will also be included in the count of examination attempts in this case. According to the examination regulations, three attempts without passing will result in a block for three examination dates. (see also Article 6, Paragraph 4 of the current examination regulations).
