The course deals the topics related to economic law with reference to the economic theory of regulation (competition and market failures) applied to the regulation of the European internal market. In particular, the course delas with the freedoms of movement, with competition law and state aids law, with the monetary and economic Union law and with European public services law.

Bildungsziele
Knowledge and understanding: At the end of the course, students will have acquired the following knowledge and understanding: - knowledge of the sources of law and their effectiveness in the domestic and European context; - the concept of the state and the horizontal and vertical distribution of power; - the relationship between the state and the individual and the channels of intervention for regulating the economic and social sphere; - knowledge of the sources of Community law and their effectiveness in the legal systems of states and other international organisations; - knowledge of the principles applied to the internal market (free movement and abolition of barriers); - knowledge of the role of the European Union at international level and its relationship with other international organisations; - system of sources governing Italian and European economic law; - interdisciplinary study (law and economics) of regulation theory; - analysis of the main regulations in the sector; - knowledge of Italian and European banking and financial sources and regulations. Applying knowledge and understanding - ability to interact fluently and spontaneously with native speakers on economic topics; - understanding of the effectiveness of legal institutions and their effects; - understanding of the organisational structure of public institutions and their legitimacy; - understanding of the channels used by the state to intervene in the private sphere, including from a historical perspective; - use of national and EU sources; - critical understanding of different models of intervention in the economy and ability to evaluate regulations; - understanding of the various disciplines in the sector and ability to implement and critically evaluate their impact. Autonomy of judgement Acquisition of the capacity for judgement and methodological tools useful for the critical analysis of data, sources, assumptions and implications of scientific practice, the political, ethical and legal context within which economic phenomena are embedded and with which they interact Communication skills Fluency (oral and written) in Italian, German and English, including translation between these languages. Conceptual awareness, ability to summarise and express oneself in writing, particularly with regard to the drafting of scientific or science-based documents Learning skills Promotion of critical thinking and analytical skills to focus on complex problems in their long-term dynamics and in the variety of their implications, including ethical ones

Bildungsziele und erwartete Lernergebnisse (zus. Informationen)
The course refers to the typical educational activities and belongs to the scientific area of Jurisprudence. Specific educational objective of the course is the acquisition of basic knowledge and competences of the development of the Italian economic constitution in the European context on the basis of an interdisciplinary approach. The first part deals with the economic theory of regulation. The second part analyses several areas and ways of State intervention in the economy also with respect to the increasing European legislation, in order to assess the costs and benefits of the intervention. The professional competences of the course are integrated with the curriculum of the degree course in Economics, Politics and Ethics and are devoted to the qualification of the various forms of State intervention in the economy from a legal perspective for the purpose of the understanding the respective legal institutes.

Art der Prüfung
For attending and non-attending students: the exam is written; students must answer 3 out of 4 questions.

Bewertungskriterien
Answers are evaluated in relation to their pertinence to the topic/question, their correctness, to argumentative ability, to the ability to summarize and to property of language.
