The course introduces the theoretical-methodological foundations of general pedagogy. It leads students to an in-depth understanding and reflection on: (a) pedagogy as a science; (b) the possible declinations of education and the tasks of educational action; (c) the pedagogical functions of experience and thought; (d) the rediscovery of teaching (beyond learning) and world-centred education.

Unterrichtsform
Topics will be presented through short lectures, group discussions, small-group work, and classroom reflections.

Bildungsziele
At the end of the course, the student, if he/she has actively participated, will be able to - analyse the peculiarities of pedagogy as a science - critically compare educational paradigms, educational orientations and educational aims - formulate critical remarks on the role of experience in education - reflect on the educational implications of adopting a world-centred approach Disciplinary skills Knowledge and understanding By the end of the course the student has become familiar with pedagogical models of learning and teaching Ability to apply knowledge and understanding of the key concepts and terminology of general pedagogy Transversal/soft skills Autonomy of judgement expressed through the capacity for reflection, discussion, in-depth study and personal reworking of the emerging themes of the module Communication skills expressed through the ability to communicate in a group knowing how to support one's own ideas; active listening Learning ability expressed through the appropriate use of pedagogical terminology, the ability to reflect on one's own training and related self-evaluation

Art der Prüfung
The written exam will include open- and close-ended questions on the course content.

Bewertungskriterien
The written paper will be assessed on the following criteria: clarity of expression; relevance; argumentation and logic; ability to use and rework acquired knowledge; critical analysis skills; and ability to reflect.
