Bildungsziele
The primary objective of the course is to reflect on language using the scientific method. In this way, we will search for the elements that the different languages of the world have in common in order to understand the functioning of this fundamental human capacity. The subject will be presented through the different levels in which language is structured (sounds, words and sentences) trying to highlight the areas of human action in which knowing linguistics can be useful, such as the clinical or technological field. The course consists of lectures, which will be complemented by exercises. Disciplinary skills By the end of the course, students will have acquired the basic knowledge of linguistics, i.e. the notions relating to the principles and mechanisms governing the functioning of human language. Alongside this knowledge, students will be able to enhance their ability to observe and analyse real linguistic behaviour and in this way increase their awareness of verbal communication processes. Transversal/soft skills The student will be able to increase his/her ability to observe and analyse real linguistic behaviour. A deeper understanding of how the language tool works enables a more conscious and effective use of language.

Art der Prüfung
Written test (exercises and open questions) and oral test.

Bewertungskriterien
For the written test, as for the oral test, the ability to apply the acquired notions to the analysis of the language is considered and assessed. In the oral test, clarity and expository ability are also considered. The written and oral examinations are given a mark and the final mark is the result of the average of the two tests.
