This course provides an introduction to interdisciplinary research. It grounds on Human-Computer Interaction as the most successful academic field bringing together research on design, arts and technologies. The objective is to highlight the importance and the complexities of interdisciplinary research providing students with solid foundations to build their research and study plan.

Modalità di insegnamento
Frontal lectures, interactive workshops, project-based learning, students presentations and peer review. Students are expected to participate actively by providing examples from their research topics, including theories and data

Obiettivi formativi
Students will acquire skills in the following areas: Knowledge and skills in theory and methodology, and in the acquisition of methods, tools and practices; Knowledge of the ethical aspects of academic research.enterprises.

Modalità d'esame
The students will write a 4-page proposal in preparation of their RSP. It includes the analysis of three related works, preliminary RQs and methods to answer them, alongside a Gant-chart.

Bibliografia obbligatoria

Before attending the course, the students must have read the book “Interaction Design: Beyond Human-Computer Interaction” by Yvonne Rogers, Helen Sharp, Jennifer Preece, Wiley 6th Edition.

Supplementary reading will be selected by the students during the course according to their research interest. Supplementary reading must be selected in agreement with the advisor.
