New Report: Management Accounting, Sustainability & Resilience
Three members of the Competence Centre - Prof. Massimiliano Bonacchi, Prof. Paolo Perego, and Assoc. Prof. Nicola Dalla Via - have co-authored a new international report: Exploring the Role of Management Accounting in Building Sustainability and Resilience.
This study, led by Prof. Leonardo Rinaldi (Royal Holloway University of London) and published with AICPA–CIMA, shows how management accountants can move beyond traditional practices to become central actors in building organisational resilience and long-term sustainability.
The research, based on in-depth case studies in the global garment sector, highlights two main insights:
- Evolving practices for resilience: dynamic budgeting, enhanced risk management, supply chain transparency, stakeholder engagement, and innovation.
- Integration of sustainability metrics: embedding environmental and social indicators into management accounting systems alongside financial performance, enabling a balanced, forward-looking approach.
